"Still the guardian, still getting killed"

Films: Godzilla-Tokyo S.O.S (2003)

Alias: Mosura

Type: Mystical

Location: Civilized Area

Height/Weight: 36 meters and 12,000 metric tons.

Affiliation: Good

Summary: In case the last Mothra was a bit too unconventional for all you purists, here's a much more digestible and noble version. It might be the best-looking one yet. Sadly, that did not change this moth's luck when it comes to facing off Godzilla.

History: A descendant of the first Mothra, this one lived on Infant Island, but was called to action when Kiryu was about to be remade. According to the Shobijin, using the first Godzilla's bones was an affront to the natural order, and Mothra would be forced to take action against humanity for it. Naturally, the government did it anyway. However, due to a kid summoning her to fight Godzilla, she put off the animosity for the moment.

Notable Kills: None.

Final Fate: Mothra's fight against Godzilla is terribly one-sided, and even when her twin children show up, she is obliterated by the kaiju's atomic breath. The larvae pick up the slack by entrapping Godzilla in web so that Kiryu can carry him out to sea.

Powers/Abilities: Mothra can flap her wings hard enough to create powerful wind gusts, is strong enough to drag Godzilla around, and can shed reflective scales to screw up projectiles.

Weakness: Beings of equal or greater power.

Scariness Factor: 2-Mothra is, as usual, totally benign, even if we did almost piss her off with trying to play God. Between the fuzzy Heisei version and the GMK version, she's a wonderful balance, but could really use a power boost if she wants to go up against kaiju again.

Trivia: -Originally, Rainbow Mothra was considered as a base for this version due to the vibrant colors, but eventually, they settled on a more conventional design.

-This same design for Mothra appears in "Godzilla: Final Wars", but with a slightly altered head design. Whether it is the same Mothra or not is still up for debate.

You know, my first reaction upon seeing a bug in front of me like this is to reach for the spray.

Why many fans still decry her as a giant Meat Shield.
